Vermont Representatives Priestley & Cina Sign Onto Multi-State-Authored Artificial Intelligence Op-Ed: Today, State Representative Monique Priestley (D-Bradford) and State Representative Brian Cina (P/D-Burlington) signed onto the published multi-state-authored op-ed pushing passage of Artificial Intelligence (AI) regulations. The article emphasizes the growing need for comprehensive legislation to address the ethical, social, and economic challenges posed by AI.
State Representatives Priestley and Cina plan to introduce a bill this upcoming 2025 legislative session in Vermont that will create regulations for AI in Vermont. The bill will focus on transparency and accountability and will ensure that AI is used safely and equitably for all Vermonters.

The multi-partisan group of legislative signers, all of which engage with the Multistate AI Policymaker Working Group started by State Senator James Maroney of Connecticut, includes 62 lawmakers total from 32 states including: Alaska, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia and Wisconsin have all co-authored the op-ed.
